Recently, some updates were made to the Company Helmet Policy and Procedures. Below, we have summarized the key points. These changes will take effect immediately.  This policy is also posted on the Vail Network on the Corporate Policy page here.

  • Distribution, Retention and Replacement
  • Employees who are not required to ski or snowboard in their positions, but elect to do so will not be issued a helmet, but may use the pro-deal through our partnership with Smith. https://www.smithoptics.com/partnerships/vail
  • Employees required to ski or snowboard in their positions will be issued a helmet at no charge.
  • Management will select if helmet is required on EAF
    Helmets will be distributed through Uniform Facilities at your resort
  • RF chips have been inserted into helmets to track alongside your uniform
  • Employees will be eligible for a new helmet after 3 years unless helmet is damaged
  • Helmet Collection
  • Employees who have worked less than 30 days and are not returning must return their helmet along with all uniform pieces to their manager or resort’s uniform facility as part of their exit process.
  • Employees who have worked more than 30 days and less than 60 days (less than 420 hours) and are not returning will return their issued helmet to their manager or resort’s uniform facility as part of their exit process.
    • Employees who have worked over 60 days (420 work hours) and are not returning:
      o It is at the manager’s discretion whether to dispose of the helmet or allow the employee to keep the helmet for his or her own personal use.
       Any employee with a company issued helmet who has been involuntarily terminated must return his or her helmet along with all uniform pieces to his or her manager or resort’s uniform facility no matter how many days s/he has worked.
